AFAC22 Conference & Exhibition powered by INTERSCHUTZ is Australasia’s largest and most comprehensive emergency management conference and exhibition. Brought to you by AFAC, Deutsche Messe and the Institution of Fire Engineers (Australia). The 2019 conference and exhibition attracted record attendance of over 4,000 emergency management personnel. 

On rotation around Australia’s major cities, our host agencies are the: Department for Environment and Water, South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission, Forestry SA, South Australian Country Fire Service, Metropolitan Fire Service SA, South Australian State Emergency Service. 

AFAC19 powered by INTERSCHUTZ was recognised as the Exhibition and Event Association of Australia’s Best Association Event at the 2019 EEAA Awards for Excellence.

The Conferences

AFAC Conference
Tuesday 23 – Thursday 25 August 2022

The AFAC Conference features international keynote speakers and local emergency management leaders. After the keynote sessions, the conference splits into a multi-stream format which includes the ADRC and IFE conferences.

Australian Disaster Resilience Conference
Wednesday 24 – Thursday 25 August 2022

The ADRC will be part of the AFAC Conference stream and focuses on disaster risk reduction and resilience.

Institution of Fire Engineers (Australia) National Conference
Wednesday 24 – Thursday 25 August 2022

The IFE (Australia) National Conference will focus on the key issues facing the fire engineering community. The conference will also be a stream within the AFAC conference.

Professional Development Program

The Professional Development Program (PDP) offers a range of practical workshops, aimed at increasing the knowledge of participants.

The Exhibition

The AFAC powered by INTERSCHUTZ exhibition is Australasia’s largest emergency management exhibition, featuring over 12,000sqm of space, jam-packed with state-of-the-art equipment, cutting-edge technology and leading service providers.

AFAC22 trade exhibition will feature the most comprehensive range of emergency management related exhibiting organisations across 12,000sqm of gross floorspace including a strong contingent of international exhibitors from a range of countries. The AFAC exhibition has grown by 140% from 2015 when the partnership between AFAC and Deutsche Messe was created.

Demonstration Zone

This area features the latest equipment, technology and best practices displayed across the three days of the exhibition. These have included robotics, virtual reality firefighting equipment, rescue simulations and much more.

Expo Stage

The exhibition will also feature a comprehensive Expo Stage program with practical presentations aimed at helping those at the frontline of emergency management. Topics have included: innovations and new technologies, mental health, wellbeing, community, resilience, trucks and PPE.

Knowledge Centre

Within the exhibition is a central hub of research findings, including the popular poster displays. This is the place to meet other researchers and is a lounge area for conference speakers.
