Women and Firefighting Australasia Inc (WAFA) is an incorporated, non-profit association for women in the firefighting industry.
Our mission is to actively promote equity across our sector to empower all women to embrace their strengths. Working in collaboration with individuals, communities and emergency services, we build confidence and empower women to achieve their full potential and be supported, as women, in their roles within the sector.
WAFA creates opportunities for frank exchange and discussion of the challenges, issues and opportunities for women in the sector. We facilitate and support women in taking an active role in defining and shaping the role of women in the firefighting and emergency services industries by promoting the expectations of and contributions by women.
WAFA membership is open to women and men, salaried or volunteer, from any aspect of the sector (eg catering, administration, firefighting, senior management). WAFA also welcomes organisational members.
WAFA was incorporated in November 2007. Since that time WAFA has been promoting women in firefighting by working with organisations and individual members to share opportunities, knowledge and experience.
